A few
poems that always bring Crickett to mind...
My Daughter,
My Friend
A little girl-child, what a joy!
To think some say,
“I’d like a boy”
When looking forward to a birth…
They never
knew a
daughter’s worth.
What
price, a laugh so full of glee?
How much,
a
fairy on my knee?
A nickel’s worth of shining hair
And ribbons,
or a smile so fair.
What cost, to see her grow too soon
Toward high-heels,
lipstick, and perfume?
No, money couldn’t pay for her,
And so God loaned her,
as it were.
For, it’s worth more than I
could spend,
For such a daughter, and a friend!

What Cancer Cannot Do
Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot kill friendship.
It
cannot suppress memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal eternal life.
It cannot conquer the spirit.

Angel of Hope
She
was the believer in hope
and all things hopeful—
She was the sharer of
strength, courage, & love.
She was a woman who defined grace
because she lived by it—
Her life was a gift, a light,
and an inspiration
to all who knew her!

From “Angels Everywhere”
The wings I see are tinged with gold
Time is endless or so I’m told
Feathery
white
I know you’re there.
In my heart I know you care
Over your shoulder.
Here we are
Staying close, never far
Wrap me up, envelop me
I need you Angel,
Can’t you see?
Shield me now within your wing
Songs of joy we’ll always sing.
Hold me
tight and take me high
You belong to me
In my sky.
Protect and love and nurture me
I need you Angel
Can’t you see?
~~ John Cameron
A
Memorial Verse
A million times I needed you
A million times I have cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You
would have never died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a special
place,
That none will ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you did not go alone.
For all my love
went with you
The day God called you home.

The Broken Chain
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.
It broke our
hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
You are always
at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by
one,
The chain will link again.
